In Ayurveda, hectic fever is known as Pralepaka Jwara.
CAUSES AND SYMPTOMS
In the serious forms of diseases like septicemia or tuberculosis, hectic fever may occur. It mostly appears in the evening and its intensity is mild which ranges between 38degrees and 40 degrees. At night the temperature falls to normal and sometimes falls even below normal. There is a lot of sweating, a lot of weakness is felt and also prostration.
AYURVEDIC MEDICINES FOR HECTIC FEVER
As mentioned above, the fever may due to tuberculosis or septicemia. Different medicines are given for the fever which occurs due to these two different conditions.
1. FEVER DUE TO SEPTICEMIA
Shri Jaimangala Rasa,
|100mg each of Shringa Bhasma and Sanjivani and 50mg of Shri Jaimangala Rasa is to be given three times daily with honey.|
2. FEVER DUE TO TUBERCULOSIS
|1gm of Sitopladi, 100mg of each of Pravala Bhasma and Pravala Bhasma, 200mg of Yakshamari Lauha is to be given with honey three times daily.|
DIET AND OTHER REGIMEN
- A normal diet should be given to the patient but foods which are hard to digest and fatty substances should be avoided. Also foods which tend to cause constipation should not be given.
